Ilmastonmuutoksen hillitseminen edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 globaalin energiasektorin siirtymist\u00e4 fossiilisista polttoaineista nollahiilisyyteen ennen kuluvan vuosisadan j\u00e4lkimm\u00e4ist\u00e4 puoliskoa.<\/p><p>L\u00e4mmitykseen kulutetaan kokonaisuutena eniten energiaa koko maailmassa. Kotien, teollisuuden ja muiden kohteiden l\u00e4mmitystarpeet muodostavat noin 50\u00a0% maailmanlaajuisesta energiankulutuksesta, eli huomattavasti enemm\u00e4n kuin esimerkiksi s\u00e4hk\u00f6ntuotanto (20\u00a0%) ja liikkuminen (30\u00a0%).<\/p><p>Euroopan komission tavoite saavuttaa nettonollap\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6t vuoteen 2050 menness\u00e4 tarkoittaa muun muassa sit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 meid\u00e4n on siirrytt\u00e4v\u00e4 fossiilisista polttoaineista puhtaaseen, uudistuvaan l\u00e4mp\u00f6\u00f6n.
