Mikkeli - Savosolar

District heating

Mikkeli

Largest solar thermal plant in Finland

Savosolar has been selected as general contractor to build the largest solar thermal system in Finland to date, on behalf of Etelä Savon Energia Oy for its district heating network, which supplies households with healthy heating. The plant operate as an additional peak load sources during summer season while the main boilers are out of service.

Mikkeli city, the home of Savosolar received the “Inspiring Solution Award” in 2018 Celsius City Summit for the Ristiina Village project. It is a green district heating energy concept with a clever combination of solar thermal and wood chips.

Savosolar was involved in this award winning project by delivering turn-key solar district heating installation to the Ristiina district heating plant.

La Caridad

Savosolar and its partner Jorgensen have been selected by Grupo Mexico for the implementation of their first solar thermal plant to deliver carbon free heat to their mining process. In this very energy efficient mining process, only 62 pieces of Savo 15SGM large scale high performance flat plate collectors are sufficient deliver 1,2 GWh of energy over the year and cover 100% of the production need during most of the sunny season.

Narbonne

With this new solar thermal plant for newHeat, Savosolar add a new leading reference in the French market of solar district heating. This approximately 3,000 m2 solar thermal field (aperture), will allow to replace 2,410 MWh of former gas heated heat by renewable heat on Narbonne’s city network, manage by a subsidary of Dalkia.

Savosolar, on the behalf of newHeat, built mainly the whole solar plant, from the solar collector’s field until the outlet of the heat exchanger to the storage thermal tank, ie: solar field, piping and solar station. More then 200 of our Savo 15 SG-M collectors, ensuring a high energy yield while reducing 510 tons of CO2 emissions per year from the district heating system of the city. The production of solar field during winter will even allow an increasing of the yield of the existing biomass boiler.
